Once you’ve made some progress in your ability to play the chords to a bunch of songs that you can sing along to, you might be interested in learning how to play instrumental, non-vocal arrangements of songs you like. This is where you would play the melody and certain parts of the chords at the same time, which is known as Chord Melody Style, and is what Jake Shimabukuro has mastered. This book illustrates the principles for achieving this with the use of 17 well known tunes at two different levels of difficulty, Plain and Fancy. These aren’t the most exciting tunes—they need to be in the public domain for me to use them—but they’re ones you probably know, and you can take these principles forward to try arranging tunes on your own that you DO like. Presented in Tablature with Chord Diagrams.
